A JOURNEY THROUGH TIME...
- 1965
S.W. Knetsch and Associates forms and incorporates its office in DeKalb, Illinois.
- 1975
Herbert Renwick joins firm and the name is changed to Knetsch, Renwick and Associates, Inc.
- 1977
Group including Richard Hampton, Robert Lenzini, Herbert Renwick, and David Newkirk purchase Knetsch, Renwick and Associates, Inc. Name changes to Hampton, Lenzini and Renwick, Inc. The Elgin, Illinois office opens with Herbert Renwick serving as President.
- 1987
DeKalb and Elgin offices are consolidated upon purchase of building at 380 Shepard Drive, Elgin, Illinois. Herbert Renwick retires and Robert Lenzini becomes CEO.
- 1997
Robert Lenzini and Richard Hampton retire; David Newkirk becomes CEO.
- 2006
HLR transitions into third generation of management and David Hinkston becomes CEO. Springfield office is relocated to 3085 Stevenson Drive and the name is changed to Hampton, Lenzini and Renwick, Inc.
- 2007
Dave Newkirk retires.
- 2009
HLR starts offering environmental services.
- 2010
HLR starts offering land acquisition services.
- 2015
HLR acquires Lamac Engineering in Mt. Carmel, Illinois.
- 2018
HLR transitions into fourth generation of management and ReJena Lyon becomes President/CEO with Erica Spolar as Executive Vice President. Lamac Engineering, Inc. becomes known as Hampton, Lenzini and Renwick, Inc.
- 2019
HLR is named “Employer of Choice” by PSMJ for achieving a superior level of employee engagement, workforce retention, and productivity.
- 2021
HLR is named an AEC Employer of Choice by PSMJ for achieving a superior level of employee engagement, workforce retention, and productivity. Office is opened in Crystal Lake, Illinois.

HLR wins 2022 Premier Award for Client Satisfaction, which honors architecture and engineering firms that deliver a truly exceptional client experience.

HLR's corporate headquarters move to a new office located at 1707 N. Randall Road in Elgin, IL to facilitate our continued expansion and commitment to meeting the evolving needs of our clients.
